Paws for Thought – my first real book :) :)

unnamed To say that I’m chuffed doesn’t cut it…Super proud? Getting closer…Incredibly honoured? You bet!!

Assistance Dogs Australia, Christine Bernasconi Photography and a group of dedicated volunteers have created the most gorgeous book ever – Paws for Thought.

This book is full of 80 adorable colour/ black and white photos of puppies and dogs together with witty captions.

These incredible dogs aptly learn how to become an extra pair of hands – from loading a washing machine, opening and closing doors, pressing the pedestrian button at lights – to improving communication, empathy and motor skills of a child diagnosed with autism.

This book is the perfect gift for birthdays, Christmas, Mothers Day or anytime 🙂

And it costs just $14.99 plus postage.

A percentage of each sale from this ‘pawsome’ book goes directly to Assistance Dogs Australia.

So if you want to do something for an organisation that is SUPER valuable to the community and very close to my heart… then grab a copy of this book..

Did I tell you it’s also been released in the UK and the States?

Fast action photography at Penrith Whitewater Stadium

A couple of weeks back the click walk learn VIP group headed to the Penrith Whitewater Stadium to photograph some super fast action on the water 🙂

This artificial whitewater sporting facility was purpose built for the canoe/kayak slalom events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

Today it is used for recreational rafting {great fun} and local, national and international canoeing/slalom events.

This ‘U’ shaped course is over 320 metres in length, 0.8 to 1.2 metres deep and between eight and 12 metres wide.

River pebbles set into the concrete create a ‘natural’ river feel. Movable obstacles are also added to vary the difficulty of the course and to fine tune the rapids.

A footpath follows the course all the way around which made getting in ‘close’ to photograph the action really easy. This path was built with the media in mind for the 2000 Olympic games. If you are interested in photography – it really is a great place to get some awesome shots..

I love fast action photography – we used super fast speeds to ‘freeze’ the water. Thanks everyone for a great day out – enjoy the pics 🙂

Assistance Dogs…they are SO SO special….

As you all know, I am the volunteer photographer for Assistance Dogs Australia. And absolutely love it:)

Assistance Dogs Australia is a national charity which trains Labradors and Golden Retrievers to help people with disabilities, providing them with greater freedom and independence.

Last Thursday was our annual ‘Awareness Day,’ held in Sydney’s Martin Place.

We received much needed donations from the general public who loved meeting our ‘super puppies’ and having a pat!

The dogs showed us a selection of their ‘tricks’ including opening the washing machine door {yes really}, picking up a mobile phone and pulling off your socks!!

These dogs never cease to amaze me..they are so soft and gentle and just want to help….

If you’d like to help out by making a donation, becoming a puppy raiser or a puppy minder, visit Assistance Dogs Australia for more information…

Enjoy the pics 🙂

Angel Place Sydney…or photographs of birdcages :)

Angel Place is a lane way that runs between George & Pitt Street Sydney.

Over the years it has been decorated with various ‘art forms’ and these ‘birdcages’ have been there for a while…

Last week I was in the city, so I thought it was time I checked out ‘Angel Place’ with my camera 🙂

Enjoy the pics 🙂 {click on the first photo to start the slideshow.}

A beautiful Japanese garden in the centre of Sydney….

This week I visited the ‘Botanical Gardens’ in Auburn, Sydney.

I haven’t been there for years. It’s a place I used to visit when my boys were young…

This time I visited to enjoy the sunshine and take some macro photography shots.

The gardens are ‘Japanese’ style…I was blown away by the peacefulness and serenity I experienced…There were so many beautiful flowers with such vivid colour – and you know how much I love colour 🙂

Entry was free on a week day and we enjoyed a couple of hours wandering around in the glorious sunshine.

All these pics were taken on my Canon 5D MKlll with a canon 100mm f2.8 L series macro lens. I added a slight amount of contrast to them in lightroom, otherwise the rich, vibrant colour is exactly what I saw…
