It doesn’t get any better than this….Sydney Opera House

Hi everyone,

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written a post. Life has been so, so busy. My husband and I have had a sea change! We’ve moved out of Sydney down to the Illawarra and are living right by the sea!! It is quite simply, the best thing we’ve ever done 🙂

On Tuesday I was up in Sydney conducting a night photography tour and took this black and white photo of the Opera House and city from Kirribilli on the northern side of the Harbour.

I stood and stared at this scene before I took the shot. The Opera House gets me every time – especially at night – it is just such an architectural masterpiece:)

For those of you who are photographers – this shot was taken on my new Canon 5d Mark IV and the 24-105mm L series lens. The settings were ISO 400, F18, 25 sec.

What do you think of the shot in black and white? I’d love to hear your comments below:)

Until next time,

Chris 🙂

Fast action photography at Penrith Whitewater Stadium

A couple of weeks back the click walk learn VIP group headed to the Penrith Whitewater Stadium to photograph some super fast action on the water 🙂

This artificial whitewater sporting facility was purpose built for the canoe/kayak slalom events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

Today it is used for recreational rafting {great fun} and local, national and international canoeing/slalom events.

This ‘U’ shaped course is over 320 metres in length, 0.8 to 1.2 metres deep and between eight and 12 metres wide.

River pebbles set into the concrete create a ‘natural’ river feel. Movable obstacles are also added to vary the difficulty of the course and to fine tune the rapids.

A footpath follows the course all the way around which made getting in ‘close’ to photograph the action really easy. This path was built with the media in mind for the 2000 Olympic games. If you are interested in photography – it really is a great place to get some awesome shots..

I love fast action photography – we used super fast speeds to ‘freeze’ the water. Thanks everyone for a great day out – enjoy the pics 🙂

Sand Sculpture Photography at Sydney’s Bella Vista Farm

Last week some of the click walk learn VIP’s braved the hot conditions and headed to ‘Bella Vista Farm’ in Sydney’s northwest to photograph the Sydney Hills Sand Sculpting Exhibition.

This years theme is A friend in Me – Celebrating Disney Pixar.

Over 400 tonnes of sand has been transformed by these super talented artists into the fantastic creatures from some of our favourite Disney Movies – The Incredibles, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc, Ratatouille and Cars.

We had a great time taking pics of these brilliant sculptures – you really have to see them up close to appreciate the time and effort that has gone into creating them.

This fabulous event is open until 26th January. Click here for details and more information.

Thanks everyone for a wonderful day 🙂

click.walk.learn tour Canberra Sat 22nd March

Hi everyone,

Saturday’s click.walk.learn tour of Canberra was a huge success!! Everyone did a ‘sun dance’ before Saturday and this beautiful city turned on a stunning Autumn day!

What a wonderful, friendly group of photographers they were! We had 5 point and shoot cameras and 3 dslr’s. Everyone learnt SO much about their cameras and photography and there was SO much creative energy!!

I always love going to Canberra. It reminds me of when I was a kid and my Dad used to take us there. I remember photographing the buildings then (with my Kodak Instamatic) and Saturday was no different..except now I have a much better camera 🙂

Do you live in Canberra and want to learn more about photography and your camera? Or do you live in Sydney and would like the opportunity to come and photograph our Nations Capital?

I’ll be putting up some new dates in the next few weeks for a basic photography course in Canberra PLUS an advanced course for anyone that would like to UP their photography skills even more!! If you are interested in coming along, please head to click.walk.learn and click on the link on the top left of the home page. That way you’ll be the first to know when the dates are released!!

These are some of the pics I took on Saturday…

enjoy
happy clicking
